Family Air Experts installs high-efficiency air conditioning across St. Lucie County, sized to the house rather than assumed from the old unit. More than a quarter of the county’s housing went up between 2000 and 2009, which puts a very large number of systems somewhere between seventeen and twenty-six years old right now. If yours is in that group, you are not replacing early.

Signs It Is Time to Replace Your AC
A system rarely fails overnight. These are the signs it is moving out of repair territory, and in a county where the median Port St. Lucie home dates to 2002 and the median Fort Pierce home to 1982, the answer is often different on either side of the county line.
Warm air at the vents
It runs through the whole afternoon and still cannot bring the house down to the thermostat setting on a hot day.
Weak airflow
Airflow that a service visit restores for a few weeks and then does not.
Short cycling
Cycling on and off in short bursts that comes back after each repair.
Water near the air handler
Drain and coil trouble that keeps returning on a system with a history of it.
Ice on the line set
Icing that comes back after a recharge. On an older system that usually points at a leak rather than a one-off.
Humidity that will not drop
Humidity that never really clears, which often means the system is oversized for the house rather than short of capacity.
A power bill that jumped
Bills rising year on year while nothing about the house or the way you use it has changed.
New noises
Noises that are getting louder or changing character rather than staying steady.

What Our Installation Customers Say
Here is what St. Lucie County homeowners say after we have installed for them.
What a New AC System Costs and How We Quote It
A new system is quoted as one number covering equipment, labor, the permit and the inspection, and you see it before anything is ordered. In St. Lucie County the permit runs through one of four different authorities depending on the address, so having it inside the price rather than added later matters here more than most places.
Clearly and transparently
A single figure covering equipment, labor, the permit and the inspection, agreed before we order anything.
Sizing comes first
We size the system to the house rather than copying the label off the old unit. An oversized system cools fast, shuts off early and leaves the house damp, which is the most common complaint we hear about replacements that were simply matched to the old box.
What makes one big or small
Efficiency level moves the price most, then the size of the system, then whether the duct work and the electrical need attention to carry it. In Fort Pierce, where the median home dates to 1982, the electrical is the part that surprises people.
When repair stops making sense
When a repair on an older system approaches what a replacement is worth, we put both numbers in front of you rather than steering you. With the county’s largest building wave running from 2000 to 2009, a lot of St. Lucie homeowners are reaching that decision at the same time.
Want a ballpark before you book an estimate? Call 772-971-8587 and tell us what the system is doing and whereabouts in the county you are. We will tell you the range a house like yours usually lands in and what moves it. See a free replacement estimate or financing options.

What Happens When You Book an Installation
Same-day service is usually available across all four counties when you call before too late in the afternoon. Here is exactly how the visit goes.
Call or Book Online
Tell us the house and what the current system is doing. We come out and measure rather than quoting over the phone.
We Text Ahead
You get the installers’ names and an honest arrival window on install day, not a four hour block.
Sizing Visit
We size the system to the house, look at the duct work and the electrical, and show you what we found before recommending equipment.
Price Before Work
You approve one price before anything is ordered. The permit and the inspection are ours to handle, not yours.
Install and Commission
We install, start up and commission the system, register the manufacturer warranty in your name, and walk you through it before we leave.
Watch a real AC Installation
Start to Finish, here’s how we do it.
AC Installation Across St. Lucie County
We install and replace complete residential cooling systems on every major brand, from the newer subdivisions west of Port St. Lucie to the older housing stock in Fort Pierce, and out to Hutchinson Island. If it cools a St. Lucie County home, we can size it, fit it and stand behind it.
Full System Replacement
Condenser, air handler, coil and line set replaced as a matched set, which is what the efficiency rating is based on and what both the FPUA and the FPL rebate require.
Ductwork Repair
A new system on undersized or leaking ducts delivers a fraction of what you paid for, so we look at the duct work before quoting the equipment rather than after.
Permits and Inspections
St. Lucie County has four separate permitting authorities: the county, the City of Port St. Lucie, the City of Fort Pierce and the Town of St. Lucie Village. Port St. Lucie runs a dedicated air conditioning change-out permit. We pull the right one, book the inspection and see it signed off.
Surge Protection
Storm surges are what finish off the electrical side. Protection fitted at install costs a fraction of what it saves.
Thermostats and Controls
A new system deserves a thermostat that can actually run it, wired to the right equipment rather than whatever was on the wall.
Ductless Mini Splits
For additions, garages, workshops and rooms the ducts never reached properly.
Why St. Lucie County Systems Wear Out Early
A system in this climate does more work in ten years than the same unit would do in twenty up north. These four are why replacement comes sooner here.
Salt Air Corrosion
Twenty-one miles of Atlantic coastline, and manufacturers note salt can be carried as far as two miles inland. Near the water a corrosion-resistant coil is often worth the upgrade, and it is worth knowing that cosmetic corrosion is excluded from manufacturer warranties.
Humidity That Never Lets Up
Fort Pierce sits muggy for about seven months of the year, with July and August normals around 89 degrees. Sizing matters more than raw capacity here, because an oversized system cools fast, shuts off and leaves the house damp.
Afternoon Storm Power Events
Surges are part of summer on this coast. Surge protection on a new system is cheap next to a control board.
August Run Time
Around 3,555 cooling degree days a year, which means the system you install runs most of the year rather than seasonally.

Why St. Lucie County Homeowners Choose Us to Install
We are a family business based in Fort Pierce, in this county, and a Lennox Premier Dealer, which means the people who quote your system are the people who install it. Our installers are background checked, the price is agreed before anything is ordered, and we hold a Florida 252 certified license. More on why homeowners choose us.
The Family Clubs
Most manufacturers require documented annual service to keep a parts warranty valid, so the maintenance plan is not an upsell on a new system, it is what protects the coverage you just paid for. Once or twice a year, your choice, with priority scheduling and no overtime charges on select plans.
Financing Available
A new system is a planned purchase for most people rather than an emergency. Financing lets you match the payment to the savings instead of the invoice and on full system replacements, so you can spread the cost instead of putting off the fix.
What Our 252 License Means for Your Warranty
Family Air Experts carries a Florida 252 certified HVAC contractor license, the state level certification rather than a county registration. Across a county with four permitting authorities that matters twice over: it is what lets us pull permits in the county, Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce and St. Lucie Village alike, and it is what keeps your manufacturer parts coverage in force. Nearly every manufacturer requires licensed installation and service, and an unlicensed install can void coverage on day one.
You’re Not Locked in with Another Company
Not often mentioned, but the company that installed your unit, doesn’t have to be the one who processes the warranty. Family Air Experts holds a 252 License with the state of Florida, allowing us to handle any warranty claims from any HVAC Installer.
Your Manufacturer Warranty Stays Valid
Work performed by a 252 licensed contractor keeps your parts coverage intact. We document what we did and what we replaced, so there is a record when you need it.
We Handle the Claim Paperwork
If a covered part fails, [we file the claim with the manufacturer and you pay only labor]. Confirm exactly how we handle this before publishing.
F.A.Q.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a new AC system cost in St. Lucie County?
Three things move the number: the size the house actually needs, the efficiency level you choose, and whether the duct work and electrical can support it. Your utility matters too. FPUA pays $500 on a qualifying changeout at 14.3 SEER2 or better and wants a copy of the permit, while FPL pays $200 and requires a complete system replacement at 15.2 SEER2 or above installed by a participating contractor, which we are. Everything is quoted as one price covering equipment, labor, permit and inspection, so call 772-971-8587, tell us the address, and we will tell you which rebate applies.
How long does an AC installation actually take?
Most straight changeouts are done in a single day, start to finish. If the duct work or the electrical needs attention first, or the inspection has to be booked with one of the county’s four permitting authorities, we tell you that up front rather than on the day.
Do you handle the permit and the inspection in St. Lucie County?
Yes, on every job. A changeout requires a permit everywhere in St. Lucie County and it is not optional, whatever anyone tells you. We pull it with whichever of the four authorities covers your address, schedule the inspection, see it signed off, and register the manufacturer warranty in your name.
Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?
Under ten years old with a small part failure, repair it. Past fifteen, or facing a compressor or a leaking coil, replacement is usually the better spend. The 2000 to 2009 building bulge means a lot of St. Lucie County systems are now in the range where that math has tipped. A free estimate will tell you which side of it you are on.
Are you licensed and insured in St. Lucie County?
Yes. We hold a Florida 252 certified HVAC license and carry full liability insurance. That certification is also what keeps your manufacturer warranty valid. What the 252 license covers.
Does using a licensed contractor matter for my manufacturer warranty?
Not when a licensed contractor does the work. Most manufacturers require documented licensed service to keep parts coverage in force, which is exactly why an unlicensed handyman repair is a risk on a system still under warranty.
Do you work on brands other than Lennox?
Yes. We are a Lennox Premier Dealer, but our technicians service every major residential brand.
Which utility serves my address, FPUA or FPL?
It is not as simple as city limits. FPUA’s service area covers about 35 square miles against Fort Pierce city limits of about 14.7, so addresses just outside the city can still be on FPUA and some inside it are not. We check the address before quoting, because it is a $300 difference on the rebate.
