Signs It Is Time to Replace Your AC
A system rarely fails overnight. These are the signs it is moving from repair territory into replacement territory, and catching that early is what keeps you from buying a system in August under pressure.
Warm air at the vents
It runs constantly and still cannot hold the temperature on a hot afternoon.
Weak airflow
Weak airflow that a service visit fixes for a month and then does not.
Short cycling
Short cycling that keeps coming back after repairs.
Water near the air handler
Repeat drain and coil problems on a system that has had them before.
Ice on the line set
Icing that returns after a charge. On an older system that usually means a leak somewhere in the coil.
Humidity that will not drop
Humidity that never really leaves, which often means the system is oversized for the house.
A power bill that jumped
Bills climbing year over year while nothing about the house has changed.
New noises
Noises that are getting worse rather than staying the same.
Thinking about replacing? We can help. Call (772)-971-8587 or get an instant estimate online in a couple of minutes.
What Our Installation Customers Say
Here is what Treasure Coast homeowners say after we have installed for them.
What a New AC System Costs and How We Quote It
A new system is quoted as one number covering equipment, labor, the permit and the inspection, and you see it before anything is ordered. What it costs depends on the size the house actually needs, the efficiency level you choose, and what condition the duct work is in.
Clearly and transparently
One price covering equipment, labor, permit and inspection, agreed before anything is ordered.
Sizing comes first
We size the system to the house rather than copying the label off the old unit, because an oversized system short cycles and never pulls the humidity out. If your home has never held temperature or humidity the way it should, ask us about a full load calculation and we will help you get one done.
What makes one big or small
Efficiency level moves the price most, then the size of the system, then whether the duct work and the electrical need attention to support it.
When repair stops making sense
When a repair on an older system approaches what a replacement is worth, we show you both numbers side by side rather than steering you. If you’re unsure, we provide free estimates
Want a ballpark before you book an estimate? Call 772-971-8587 and describe what the system is doing. We will tell you the range a house like yours usually lands in and what moves it. See a free replacement estimate or financing options.

What Happens When You Book an Installation
Same-day service is usually available across all four counties when you call before too late in the afternoon. Here is exactly how the visit goes.
Call or Book Online
Tell us the house and what the current system is doing. We come out and measure rather than quoting over the phone.
We Text Ahead
You get the installers’ names and an honest arrival window on install day, not a four hour block.
Sizing Visit
We size the system to the house, look at the duct work and the electrical, and show you what we found before recommending equipment.
Price Before Work
You approve one price before anything is ordered. The permit and the inspection are ours to handle, not yours.
Install and Commission
We install, start up and commission the system, register the manufacturer warranty in your name, and walk you through it before we leave.
Watch a real AC Installation
Start to Finish, here’s how we do it.
AC Installation Services Across the Treasure Coast
We install and replace complete residential cooling systems on every major brand. If it cools a Treasure Coast home, we can size it, fit it and stand behind it.
Full System Replacement
Condenser, air handler, coil and line set replaced as a matched set, which is what the efficiency rating is based on and what the rebates require.
Ductwork Repair
A new system on undersized or leaking ducts delivers a fraction of what you paid for, so we check the duct side before quoting equipment.
Permits and Inspections
Every changeout on the Treasure Coast needs a permit. We pull it, book the inspection and see it signed off.
Surge Protection
Storm surges are what finish off the electrical side. Protection fitted at install costs a fraction of what it saves.
Thermostats and Controls
A new system deserves a thermostat that can actually run it, wired to the right equipment rather than whatever was on the wall.
Ductless Mini Splits
For additions, garages, workshops and rooms the ducts never reached properly.
Why Treasure Coast Systems Wear Out Early
A system in this climate does more work in ten years than the same unit would do in twenty up north. These four are why replacement comes sooner here.
Salt Air Corrosion
Condensers within about two miles of the ocean take salt year round, and coils corrode years ahead of the same unit further inland. It matters when you are buying, because a corrosion-resistant coil is often worth the upgrade on the coast and a waste of money in Tradition or Palm City. Worth knowing before you sign: cosmetic corrosion is excluded from nearly every manufacturer warranty, so the protection has to be bought into the equipment rather than claimed later.
Humidity Load That Never Lets Up
A system here runs close to ten months a year. That is why equipment that would last twenty years in a milder climate is often finished at twelve to fifteen here, and why efficiency matters more than the sticker suggests. The difference between a baseline unit and a high-efficiency one is paid back in run hours, and this climate provides plenty of them.
Afternoon Storm Power Events
Summer storms bring surges that shorten the life of every electrical component in the system. It is one of the arguments for surge protection at the time of install rather than after the second capacitor.
August Run Time
August is when undersized and oversized systems both give themselves away. An undersized system never catches up; an oversized one cools fast, shuts off, and leaves the house damp. Both get blamed on the equipment when the real fault was the sizing, which is why we calculate rather than assume.
Where We Install Across the Treasure Coast
St. Lucie County | Indian River County | Martin County | Okeechobee County
Why Treasure Coast Homeowners Choose Us to Install
We are a family business in Fort Pierce and a Lennox Premier Dealer, which means the people who quote your system are the people who install it. Our installers are background checked, the price is agreed before anything is ordered, and we hold a Florida 252 certified license. More on why homeowners choose us.
The Family Clubs
Most manufacturers require documented annual service to keep a parts warranty valid, so the maintenance plan is not an upsell on a new system, it is what protects the coverage you just paid for. Once or twice a year, your choice, with priority scheduling and no overtime charges on select plans.
Financing Available
A new system is a planned purchase for most people rather than an emergency. Financing lets you match the payment to the savings instead of the invoice and on full system replacements, so you can spread the cost instead of putting off the fix.
What Our 252 License Means for Your Warranty
Family Air Experts carries a Florida 252 certified HVAC contractor license, the state level certification rather than a county registration, and on a new system it matters twice over. It is what lets us pull permits across every jurisdiction on the Treasure Coast, and there are a lot of them: St. Lucie County, Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce each run their own, Martin County requires a Manual J load calculation and a duct tightness test, Sebastian charges a flat change-out fee, and Indian River County permits Vero Beach while Indian River Shores and Orchid do their own. It also protects the warranty on the equipment you just bought, because nearly every manufacturer requires licensed installation and service, and an unlicensed install can void coverage on day one.
You’re Not Locked in with Another Company
Not often mentioned, but the company that installed your unit, doesn’t have to be the one who processes the warranty. Family Air Experts holds a 252 License with the state of Florida, allowing us to handle any warranty claims from any HVAC Installer.
Your Manufacturer Warranty Stays Valid
Work performed by a 252 licensed contractor keeps your parts coverage intact. We document what we did and what we replaced, so there is a record when you need it.
We Handle the Claim Paperwork
If a covered part fails, [we file the claim with the manufacturer and you pay only labor]. Confirm exactly how we handle this before publishing.
F.A.Q.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a new AC system cost in the Treasure Coast?
Three things move the number: the size the house actually needs, the efficiency level you choose, and whether the duct work and electrical can support it. Equipment is the smaller half of most quotes. Sizing starts with the house rather than the label on the old unit, because getting it wrong produces a system that either never catches up or cools too fast and leaves the house damp. Everything is quoted as one price covering equipment, labor, permit and inspection, so call 772-971-8587, tell us about the house and the current system, and we will tell you what that usually involves.
How long does an AC installation actually take?
Most straight changeouts are a single day, start to finish, and we aim to have you cooling again the same evening. Jobs that involve duct work, electrical upgrades or a change of equipment location can run into a second day, and we will tell you which one yours is before you commit rather than on the morning. Call 772-971-8587 and we will tell you what we can do tonight.
Do you handle the permit and the inspection?
Yes, both, on every job. A changeout requires a permit everywhere on the Treasure Coast and it is not optional, whatever anyone tells you. We pull it, schedule the inspection and see it signed off, and we register the manufacturer warranty in your name at the same time. If your utility offers a rebate, the permit is usually part of claiming it, which is another reason it is worth having done properly.
Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?
Under ten years old with a small part failure, repair it. Past ten, once the manufacturer warranty has run out, the arithmetic changes and it is worth seeing both numbers. There is a local factor as well: your utility decides part of the answer. FPL pays a $200 rebate on a qualifying full replacement, Fort Pierce is on FPUA which pays $500 and wants a copy of the permit, and Glades Electric members around Okeechobee get no equipment rebate at all. We check which applies to your address before quoting. No pressure, just the numbers and a free estimate.
Are you licensed and insured in Florida?
Yes. We hold a Florida 252 certified HVAC license and carry full liability insurance. That certification is also what keeps your manufacturer warranty valid. What the 252 license covers.
Does using a licensed contractor matter for my manufacturer warranty?
Not when a licensed contractor does the work. Most manufacturers require documented licensed service to keep parts coverage in force, which is exactly why an unlicensed handyman repair is a risk on a system still under warranty.
Do you work on brands other than Lennox?
Yes. We are a Lennox Premier Dealer, but our technicians service every major residential brand.
Do you service the barrier islands?
Yes. Hutchinson Island, Jupiter Island, and the Vero Beach island are all on our regular route, and salt corrosion is something we check for on every coastal call.
