TCBA Workforce Development is creating opportunities for young adults on the Treasure Coast to learn more about the skilled trades. Through Blue Collar Big Dollar, the Treasure Coast Builders Association Charitable Foundation says its workforce efforts have grown from scholarships into hands-on career exploration events that bring construction professionals directly to young people. Family Air Experts was proud to support that mission during a recent Careers in Construction Day.
What TCBA Workforce Development Does
The purpose of TCBA Workforce Development is bigger than a single event or a single company. Blue Collar Big Dollar’s mission as helping bridge the gap between employers and potential employees while giving young people exposure to real-world skills and clearer pathways into the trades. That kind of work matters because many students may never seriously consider construction or HVAC unless they are given a chance to see it up close.
At Family Air Experts, that is one reason this initiative matters to us. We believe workforce development starts with exposure. When students can meet local business owners, ask questions, and interact with people already working in the trades, career paths begin to feel more real and more attainable.
Family Air Experts at Careers in Construction Day
Nathan, Dalton, and Mario spent the morning volunteering at Performance Based Preparatory Academy in Fort Pierce as part of the TCBA Workforce Development program. The event was organized to give interested young adults a half day of exposure to the trades and the people behind them. Family Air Experts was honored to be there alongside other local trade partners, all working toward the same goal of helping students better understand the opportunities available in construction and related fields.
This was not about promoting ourselves for the sake of attention. It was about showing up for a local initiative that is doing meaningful work in our community. Supporting TCBA Workforce Development means supporting the future of the trades on the Treasure Coast, and we were glad to be part of that effort.
Introducing Students to HVAC
One of the most meaningful parts of the day was giving students a real introduction to HVAC. In Mario’s recap of the event, he shared that Nathan built an HVAC demo board with thermostats, wiring, breakers, relays, and fans to create a hands-on learning tool for the students. That kind of effort helped make the trade more visible, more understandable, and more engaging for the young adults attending the event.
For many students, HVAC is something they experience every day but may never think about as a career path. A Careers in Construction Day gives them the chance to connect the dots. It helps them see that HVAC is not just equipment in the background. It is a skilled trade built around problem-solving, technical knowledge, service, and real opportunity.
Supporting Workforce Development on the Treasure Coast
Events like this matter because they create a bridge between students and the local businesses willing to invest in them. Jennifer Williams, Director of Workforce Development at Blue Collar Big Dollar, thanked TCBA members for their support and said these efforts to bring the trades to young people depend on members who are willing to share their passion. That community support is what makes TCBA Workforce Development effective.
We were proud to stand alongside other trade partners during the day, including fellow TCBA members and vendors who helped broaden the students’ view of what is possible in the trades. When multiple companies and specialties show up in one place, students get a better sense of the range of career paths available to them.
Thank You to Jennifer and the Other Trade Partners
A special thank you goes to Jennifer Williams for organizing the event and helping make the day possible. We appreciate the leadership behind initiatives like this and the effort it takes to bring students and industry professionals together.
We were also glad to take part alongside other local trade professionals, including partners such as Porch Factory, Apex Electric, and other TCBA members. Community events like this are stronger when businesses show up, contribute, and help create a welcoming environment for the next generation.
Why This Matters to Family Air Experts
At Family Air Experts, we care about more than heating and cooling. We care about families, community, and the future workforce that will keep the Treasure Coast running strong. Supporting TCBA Workforce Development fits naturally with who we are as a company because we believe in giving back, investing locally, and helping young adults see valuable opportunities in the skilled trades.
A half day of exposure can go a long way. For some students, it may simply be an interesting morning. For others, it may be the first time they seriously consider a future in HVAC or another trade. Either way, we are grateful to have played a small part in that experience. Next month, Blue Collar Big Dollar will be hosting a week long Careers in Construction Week, and we encourage all young adults to read more about it here or reach out to Blue Collar Big Dollar to learn more. It is an incredible program that TCBA members sponsor to give a full week of more in depth learning with many of the trades to help find out what these young adults want to pursue, and it wraps up with a career fair where they can speak directly to employers in the trades.
Family Air Experts was proud to support TCBA Workforce Development during this Careers in Construction Day and to spend time encouraging young adults on the Treasure Coast. We are thankful for the opportunity, thankful for the organizers and trade partners who made it possible, and thankful to be part of a community that is investing in the next generation.
